New car!
It's not much of a secret any more, but this week Tash traded in her faithful little Smart for a new (one careful female owner) Renault Clio - far better for fitting the furry one onto the back seat!

A few tanks of fuelAbsurd advert of the day: A few tanks of fuel? The average small car takes about £30 to fill up, so it'll cost about £90? That's good, right?Well actually, no, the small print at the bottom of the advert said "RRP for model shown is £179."
I presume this is marketed at clueless execs driving Chelsea Tractors, then, rather than the regular man on the street.

It's a Smart! How cool is that?

The one horsepower car...I'm struggling to decide whether this is a hoax or not... |
Goodbye, old friendYou've been with my for some time now, and seen plenty of highs and lows, good times, and bad.You weren't my first, and I'm sure you won't be my last, but I earned every part of you. You certainly had quirks, and were prone to pack in on the worst of times, but on the whole you got me where I needed to be when it mattered. You travelled with me a fifth of the distance to the moon, and have taken me places I might never have otherwise been to. I know I probably didn't care for you as much as you deserved, so your failings were certainly my fault, so I have no hard feelings. I hope you feel the same. When I see you next, zooming past with your new master, I hope you remember me, and that they're not too confused at the random guy waving happily with a teary look in his eye.
It's the end of an era, my little Seicento, you will be missed.

Back to workWe're now back from a blissful two weeks down in Dorset, where we stayed in a beautiful little cottage on a farm just outside Bridport. The wedding itself was wonderful too (if a little windy - the marquee made quite a few lift off attempts!)I'm writing this whilst sat on the morning bus to work (five pounds return!!!) because all was not well when we returned home yesterday afternoon. The house and garden are both fine (watched over by our kind neighbour) but at some point in the last two weeks our friendly neighbourhood asbo decided it'd be fun to tear open my car's canvas roof, break in and hotwire it for an evening's joyriding. Fortunately for us, he wasn't the brightest, and failed to realise the car has an engine immobiliser, thus making it impossible to start. In another helpful move he made the kind gesture of cutting himself badly and bleeding all over the interior of the car! The forensics guy said the evidence was perfect, and doubted this would be our asbo's first offence, so was sure their database would get a match.
I'll write more about the honeymoon later, and upload some scenic views.

Bev? Kev! Bev! Kev?Does anyone else find it somewhat sinister that Kev has "traded in" his spouse for a younger, slimmer model, yet apparently forces her to use his dead wife's name? |
